I received a Maratac copper AAA with tritium inserts in a trade, it went through the wash, only about ten minutes, after I realized I'd put my light and Case Damascus peanut in the wash. I run Energizer lithium batteries through it, but sometimes it does not work. I've used fresh batteries, from different packs purchased about a month or two different, and it still does not work. Other times it works fine. I want to send it in for servicing, I have no receipt etc. I couldn't find who to send it to. County Comm? Are they the manufacturer/dealer/distributor? Thanks for your assistance.

Why would the warranty cover misuse/abuse? Have you tried cleaning the contacts and letting it dry out really well? If it got soapy water in it you may want to clean it with alcohol.

Sounds like he is looking for where to send it in for "service" and Does not mention anything about "warranty".
And I don't know what kind of specs his light has but most half decent lights would not be considered to be abuse
if they were in water for 10 minutes. Maybe IP 0 for water ingress?

Did you read the thread title? Maratac AAA copper tritium went through washer, who do I contact for warranty service

Yes, after reading the post I did not remember "warranty" is in the title, I stand corrected.
I'm not familiar with Maratac lights but most decent lights have some water ingress (IP) rating in their specs that seems like it should protect the light from a failure from a 10 minute dunk in the washer.

Even though it's not deep and only ten minutes, there is still the agitation of the washer that could effect how water proof/resistant the light is.

Yeah, that would be considered abuse in my book. Also there wouldn't be a warrantee if it wasn't purchased from a dealer. Plus you most of the time you have to send in a warrantee card or register on line so you can prove when and where you purchased it from in the event of a claim.

Can't you just Google the manufacturer and email them about service centers? You never know, they might fix it for free if you send it in. I have that happen before to a camera that I dropped. I told them what happened and they didn't charge me for the repair.

I would just send it in on my dime with a 'sob story' note and see what I'd see.

I know that with 'high end' phono cartridges, many companies have an 'Oops' policy and I've had to use it before, so they do exist. Maybe Maratac will feel sorry for the OP and send him a new one?

I have not seen one with tritium in it. I am guessing the tail? Being it isn't a super expensive light, maybe order another one then swap heads? Then you have a back up head to toss in the car. or whatever. Since, as I understand, it does work sometimes.
For me, I would send it to a member who can do some mods. Maybe new driver & a Nichia led? That would be pretty neat.
Good luck

You can call County Comm, and ask for Mike. It is doubtful it would be covered, but if it can, Mike will know. Good luck & let us know what happens.

Not looking for freebies. If the repair cost is close to the cost of a new AAA copper light, I might just get the new one and keep the parts as suggested. I fully admit that I was careless, I thought I had checked my pockets. I thought most lights produced today are waterproof to an extent though, and want to see what Maratac says before I send the light to a third party. I did not see a contact specifically for Maratac, but I will send an email to County Comm.
