If you wanted to continue using a publicly available random number, I would have had an improving suggestion for the old system. Choose one index, divide it by the number participants and use the remainder as the winning number (the last eligible post wins if the remainder is zero). Practically no limit to participant number (limit very high) and equal possibilities for everyone to win. However, random.org is also a good choice. I have used it, too (last time was when there were some old projectors sold for peanuts at my working place and we needed to find out who can buy which). Well played.
