Is it possible to mod a McClicky into a two stage by adding a resistor? Would this result in a momentary low (soft press) and a non-momentary high (full press) UI?

Definitely interested to hear if this is possible!

Not having dismantled a Surefire two-stage switch, I'm not sure, but I think you would have an easier time starting out with a momentary switch ala the original 6P.

This is something I've been wanting to look into myself, the world not having enough two-stage lights, and PD lights being a relic of history.

I would have pursued it more fervently, if I hadn't landed an SF Kroma tailcap on the CPFMP, which now sits on a 6P with a Nailbender dropin and takes care of my high-output two-stage needs. :D

The McClicky switch doesn't have the necessary internal parts to make a two-stage switch. You would need to design new internals with two sets of electrical contacts instead of just one set.

I've made several of these modded McClicky 2-stage switches first done by Kenster. I still have a bag of the implant switches if anyone wants to give it a try.

UI becomes reverse clicky, off-lo-hi-off or hi-lo depending on how you wire it.
