McClicky Switch for E2E?

Is it possible to put that McClicky switch in that stock tail? I'm not really too worried about it standing (although that is a really cool mod). I want the flashlight to fit easily in my pocket.

Maybe - just to clarify, you have the push-for-momentary/twist-for-constant tailcap on your E2e?

That tailcap is no longer made and is somewhat rare. Early versions could be disassembled with an allen wrench, later versions were riveted together and disassembly is non-reversible. I don't know if the McClicky switch will fit in either version. However, if yours is the riveted version, I would suggest NOT permanently altering it. You could easily sell it and buy a Surefire or McTC clicky tailca, or do a trade.

To tell if yours is the riveted version, turn it upside down, and look under the contact spring. If you see a solid dome, it's riveted; if you see an allen-head screw (hole for a hex key), it can be disassembled.

I just looked and mine is the Allen-Head screw version. Yes this is the "push momentary/twist for constant" tailcap. If I install the new McClicky will I lose the "twist for constant" operation? I can see the lil screw there under the spring. Does this mean that its not super valuable and that the modification would be ok?

Does the McClicky switch come with everything that would be needed for this swap?

Thanks all for all the awesome info. You guys rock lovecpf

I swapped McClickies into a number of my Z52's (riveted and allen screw models) before I realized they were discontinued. They work great, but now I wish I still had the twisties. There are lots of E-series clicky options, but no other single-stage twisties (that I know of).

I'm going to take the advice and just buy another tail. I'll just sell the twisty that I have and use that to fund my habit :p

Thanks all
