Has anyone tried using a 30mm or Fraen optic with this head? If so, what were the results and how hard was it to do? More specifically, how did you do it?

the 30mm optics are larger, so they would need to be turned down a bit.

furthermore, if using a 5watter, the pelican reflector will far outperform any optic.

I actually have a PR equipped McLux in both 5W and 1W. My 1 watter R2H powered by a BB600 in a 1x123 McLux outthrew and outperformed the 2x123 McLux 5W X3T with a BB750. I have quite a few 5W lights now between my L4s and several Pelican PM6s and the 1W McLux with the PR is THE light ( at least for now /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif )It just seems the R2H McLux provides better and more usable light and is certainly more convenient to use.

yes, 1watters will outthrow 5watters due to die the smaller die.

what i mean was that a 5w luxeon in a pelican reflector will provide a nicer beam than a 5w luxeon in a 30mm(or any other type of) optic.

i made a turbohead for my mmm, that can either use a pelican reflector, or my cut down 30mm...i prefer the pelican reflector /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
very nice beam! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
