McR 19 - any placement measurement?

with the XR-E, it was easy: just place the McR on the metal ring and it was in focus...

now I am trying to place it at an XP-G and I have no chance at all

I am about to elevate the reflector more and more (3 mm higher than the star surface at the moment) but somehow it just does not work...
and adding even more distance also seems to have no influence on the beam

looking into the front and checking if the glow substance completely "fills" the reflector also is of no help


is there any safe information?
(like "place the reflector xx mm over the led and thats fine")

i'm at about 5mm higher than the star surface now with where I "place" the reflector but still am not sure,
there simply is not much difference
