Hi I just finished completing my ROP build.

I bought a Mdacod 6AA to 2D adapter.

I realised that sometimes it doesn't come on. It got jammed with the stock spring and when I finally managed to get it out it pulled the spring out with it.

Now I'm put the spring with the screwing part of the adapter and if I put it in gently and straight it sometimes works, but when I put it in quickly it doesn't switch on.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this problem? Thanks

If your 2D is a Maglight you could remove the switch and solder the spring back onto the switch, or you could order a switch from Maglight. If this applies to you read the instructions about the D in the serial number on Maglight's website. If the spring you mention is the tail cap spring just push it back into the tailcap. Hope this helps.

Do you think the reason it is not coming on is because the spring is not making contact ? It's not the tailcap spring, it's the other end.

The little small one...

The older Maglight switches had a little spring to make battery contact. Newer ones have a little brass plate. The small spring on the switch is probably not making contact because it's supposed to be soldered to the switch. The switch (older lights) can be removed with a 5/64" Allen wrench, newer lights with a T8 driver with a thin shaft. (both tools came to me when I bought a new switch). Maglight sells both old and new style switches. I'd just take the switch out and solder the spring back on. To remove the switch remove the rubber switch boot and use the tool to loosen the set screw. The switch can be pushed out with a stick. There are great threads here on CPF about Maglight switch removal. Good luck! You'll fix it!

That little spring is annoying! However, if you remove the switch from the Mag tube you can push out the metal disk that holds the spring from the plastic switch assembly after you dismantle the switch housing. I did a resistance fix on my Mag by soldering a copper braid between the metal disk and the top of the spring, which also holds the spring in place.
