Any users of military anglehead flashlights out there?

I've used them for years and have found them very tough and useful. Although on the older models, the exposed switch on the side of the housing often got damaged. This has been greatly improved with the addition of the switch guard. Although the light could be greatly improved with a better switch.
They are water resistant but not water proof.
Battery corrosion will generally totally ruin them though.

I have several. Very useful camping. I beef mine up with a halogen bulb and alkaline batteries.

I quit using mine after Basic. A AA Minimag lite is almost as bright, easier to carry, more water resistant, and uses smaller batteries. For higher output I use a SureFire 9P. I was considering trying to replace the bulb with some LED', but found the LED lmap for the Princeton Tec headlamp at REI, and just got that instead.

Ranger why are you using a neon of a flashlight when you can be using a viper?

I found that the best use for the green angle head flashlight, any time someone asks to borrow a flashlight hand them one of the cheap ones and chances are they will say "Oh never mind" I have two of them and they make great containers for holding dead batteries, Take it to the supply guy and tell him you need two new D-cells. So they aren't useless!

I never said that my military anglehead light is great or that it is the only light I own and use. But, my anglehead light has served me well under a variety of circumstances.

I have a number of fine light, mags, surefire, Photons, etc.

Thanks.

I think ranger is using that light due to nostalgia factor. Mustve had this in the boy scouts or the army and it's been through alot and keeps on going. might not be the best, but when it's the only thing you have in the woods. You could care less about all the other ones at the time. it's like a well worn shirt, you don't throw it away even though the wife/gf is threatening you.

You are correct Azreal - that is part of the reason. But the military anglehead flashlight is not all that bad. Just look at some of the real cheap name brand lights (2 for $5 etc) or those you can get at the dollar stores. The anglehead lights are head and shoulders over them.

But you are correct. My anglhead light has served me well - in the military and out. Not the best, but it produces a reliable usable light.

My personal favorite is a Code 4 Jr. light. 2 AA cells similar to a 2 AA minimag light but with a rubber pushbutton switch on the side of the barrel and the reflector housing is fitted with a red lens filter that can be retracted so that the light produced is white or when the housing is pushed down the light is read.

I am also an enthusiastic users of the Photon Micro Lights.

Thanks!

BTW - off topic, but in light of the recent attack on the US, everyone, please display the Flag of the United States of America.

guys, I never knew there was more than one type. I had one to play with when I was a kid of 3 !

Nostalgia stuff - a friend has an angle head "Yank" flashlight, (as he calls it, because he bought it from an American Soldier) and it looks the same.
Anyone here patient enough to post a photo or 2 ?
