About a few months ago my Mini Mag stopped working. Instead of putting new batteries in, I took them out and tested the batteries on another flashlight (Inova X2) and it powered up the flashlight. Hmmmm.... it seems that the batteries were ok so there must have been something wrong with the Mini Mag. I called Maglite and they told me the when the batteries get low, the Mini Mag won't work. They told me to put some new batteries in the Mini and low and behold, it's working again. I guess there are plus and minuses to this. Plus, if the batteries are low, it forces you to replace them before they have a chance of leaking. Minus, you have to replace the batteries more often and you don't get full usage of your batteries.

Hi CAMVDCS, Same here, Mine started to flicker and then quit. I was using it at work maybe an hour or so each day. It just didn't give me the confidence of knowing that I will have light when I need it, so I quit using it. It is now in the glovebox of my Mother's car with some extra batteries.

I remember hearing about this when this light first came out. The light doesn't have a moon mode when the batteries get low, so the light just goes out. People didn't like that, and I don't blame them.

My roommate has a minimag LED and when the batteries drop to ~1.1v the light goes out which is both good and bad. It is good if you use nimh as you have less chance of damaging them by depleting low enough the chances of cell reversal is greatly increased. Bad for the blackout you end up with sometimes if you wait a half hour you can get a few more minutes of light as the batteries "recover" a little.
