Minimag Tailcap Switch

I'm doing an LS mod on a minimag and I need a tailcap switch. Just wondering where I can purchase one of them?

Just finished my Madmax adj mod on a minimag this morning and I am in desperate need of a tail switch for this thing! Hoping someone can provide info on a source for these things.

This mod is awesome, but removing the batts to turn the thing off is getting old already!

I must have posted this idea a hundred times over the last 6 months, why not take the tailcap switch from a Brinkmann Legend AA and stick it on the Minimag? Its an almost perfect fit with just a small barely noticeable gap, heck I even have a conventional minimag like that for at home use.

The maglite purists look upon disdain at this approach....

Just a warning, the brinkmann tailcap switches don't always fit on the mags. I have several brinkmans, and not one of them fits right on any of the minimags I own. The threads are slightly different, so you can screw them in halfway, but that's about it. I think if you force it, you could probably make it work, but it might ruin one or both of the threads.

Took some hunting but I found what I think are AA Maglite push button tail caps..

These things look kinda plasticy to me. I'll get a couple, but I would preffer some nice machined aluminum.

Ordered 3 of them from ZBattery.

I agree, machined aluminum would be nice. But at least the price is right and it beats not having any kind of switch at all.

I also noticed that all 3 of the vendors mentioned had the part listed as AM2A666. Since all 3 used the same part number, it makes me think that this is made by the Minimag folks and not aftermarket. Interesting......

I will post my impressions of this product.

Before I make a large order for these, has anyone tried it on the Lambda Illuminator.

BTW, my Brinkmann TCS is not a good fit on my mini mag. Maybe this nylon thread would be a better option then.

Luminocity, I think these switches are only of mediocre quality. Ask Mr. Bulk to see if you can still get in on the minimag tailcap switch group buy. I have a feeling those are of better quality.

I don't have the info where I got my tailcap switch. Tho the first picture looks similar to the ones I have.

If you treat the plastic ones nicely they seem to be very nice. My only concern is when putting it on cross threading is very easy. I am very careful screwing the first couple of threads.

I believe the one's that Mr. Bulk arranged the group buy on completly exhausted the supply from the wholesaler..

They are nicely made from machined aluminum and far exceeded my quality expectations as both of mine fit perfectly. At first I did have trouble starting them to thread on but dumped the batteries. Then they went on real easy after a couple of runs on and off to clean up the threads.

The only negative comment that I could really make about them is that the on/off button sticks out far enough that it will light if pressed against a wall - but the switch won't lock in the "on" position unless the button is depressed further in the recess. Probably not a good idea to carry one of these (with batteries loaded) loose inside of your luggage.. In all, not enough of a concern to turn me off (pun intended

) on this switch as I'd buy more in a heartbeat.
