Miniwave Dive Light - Further modification

I have successfully modified my Miniwave dive light, upgrading the maxbright LEDs with SSC P4s. I'm not sure if I like the upgrade as yet, because while they put out more light, they have a slightly off-putting green tint. But I've potted most of the head now, so changing the LEDs out again is out of the question.

So, I would like to now replace the inline resistors with proper regulated circuitry. At the moment, there are 3 P4 LEDs wired in parallel being driven with a resistor inline from a 4 C NiMH battery set, also in series. I would like to replace the NiMH batteries with 4 x C sized Li-ion batteries arranged in a 2P2S array, providing 7.2v with a lot of mAh.

Now I only need a driver that can put out 3A from a 7.2v pack. The following looks like an option:

I already have a few of those on hand, but I wanted to check in with the knowledgeable people on the forum before taking the tools to my dive light again. The poor thing really has had a hard time at my amateur hands, but I'm getting better.

Does anyone have comments on that driver in this light? Are there better driver circuits out there that do 3A from a 7.2v pack?
 
How do you intend to get all the heat out of the light?

The emitters are already sitting on a heat sink, and are currently fine. I have left the light on for an hour next to me while I work, and didn't notice any going blue. If the driver I use gets hot, I'll just pot that against a heat sink.
