MN03 versus P60

I see a lot of good deals on Surefire G2's out there. I have thought about picking up a couple for spares, gifts, etc. especially now that I have 72 Surefire batteries. How does the light output of the P60 LA compare to that of the E2 MN03, particularly in whiteness? Although the E2 is impressive in it's own right, I now own several flashlights that produce a much whiter beam including a Legend LX.

The MN03 seems to have a bigger surround/spill light than the P60, while the P60 has a bigger hotspot. My scorpion is whiter than my E2O, but the E2O is what rides in my back pocket everyday...convenient size. The whiteness of the P60 and MN03, at least in the two I just compared, is about the same, with the P60 maybe a little whiter...could be the batteries though. The MN03 stays brighter longer. JMO

This is with the lamps I have, there could be differences between individual MN03 & P60 lamps.
MN03 has round beam - P60 is slightly oval.
MN03 is slightly yellow compared to the P60.
For me, I think it boils down to what size/type of light a person wants and how much you want to pay for it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I don't own a light using the MN03 lamp. My experience with my special egg-shaped P60 over 4-5 sets of batteries I tend to notice during the last 20-25% of battery life the beam is noticeably yellow. This may not affect function (it still lights up incredibly bright), but it has a psychological effect of "it shouldn't be this yellow therefore the batteries need changing". I have yielded to the psychological pressure, for fear of limiting lamp life (some have mentioned running cells down to near empty shortens lamp life).

If MN03 lamps produce whiter light for longer, it may extend battery changes by 10 mins or so, which may be worth it to you in the long run.

in my experience the P60's have been egg shaped and one lamp i had was yellowish.

all MN03's i've seen were round, white and provided more spill.

i find the MN03 superior.
