I recently purchased a Ultrafire C8 (Cree XML-T6) flashlight from amazon. Obviously I realize that this is essentially a throw away light but I am fine with that. It is a great flashlight that far exceeds most of the far more expensive flashlights I have encountered when taking into consideration cost. The only issue I have with mine is that the mode memory doesn't work at all. Every time you turn the flashlight off and back on it proceeds to the next mode. I was wondering if there was any chance of being able to pull apart the driver and fix the issue, though I assume not. Otherwise I will just buy another one. Thanks.

Mode memory can be like that. Especially with the cheaper lights. Some lights reset and always start on high or medium; some restart in the mode it was in when turned off; others will consider being turned off as a mode change, and restart in the next mode. So, it's possible the light is working "properly".
You didn't specify which light exactly, but Dave L.'s review for a 5-mode Ultrafire mentioned your complaint.
