more economic: SF or SL

initial purchase costs disregarded, which is cheaper to keep working, the SF G2/6P or SL scorpion?
ive heard varying reports about the SL's bulb life but thats its cheaper. is it cheaper in the long run if it doesnt last as long?
how is the runtime for each model?

size15s, i must admit i have not spent a great deal of time examining the different models surefire has (my catalog is old and the website has too much info. and is hard on a dial-up).

is there much of a difference b/w the E2e and G2z and the models i was looking at? i can get on the website for tech data, im more interested in feel/personal preference.

IMHO for the price it is very hard to beat the Scorpion. The focus is adjustable, so you don't need a Surefire "beam spreader" for close up work, the bulbs cost 1/4 that of the Surefire lamp assembly (but only last about 1/4 as long...), it comes with a spare bulb, and the runtime is essentially identical to the runtime of the SF P60 module found in the G2/6P/etc.

If you want "top of the line", get the Surefire. If you want a good quality light that puts out the same amount of light for a lot less money intially, go for a Scorpion.

Cheaper to keep working? I'd say it's a wash. Both about the same.

The Scorpion is cheaper to run bulb wise. The beam is whiter too. Replacement bulbs are cheap and it comes with 2. Run time is the same with both. I wouldn't let the economics be the deciding factor.
