I've decided to experiment with some rechargeable 14500's to start with and possibly branch out from there if all goes well. It's just too hard to ignore the jump up to 240 Lumens, from 140, using Lithium in the JetBeam.
So, to that end, which protected cells are the way to go? AW's still the first choice?
Is the only danger of using unprotected cells the chance of over charging and thermal runaway or is there some other reasons as well?
Is the Pila IBC still tops for a mid-range charger? Will it handle various size batteries, say up to 18650's?
The threads that I've read on the subject are a couple of years old now and I just want an update before I pull the trigger on a charger and batteries.
