I'm looking for a real thrower to add to the collection. I'd like something with a usable beam and would like to stay away from the specialized "pencil" beam lights. I have around $150 to spend and have looked at the DRY 3xXML but would like something with a little more quality. Form factor doesn't matter to me as long as its some form or rechargeable. What's out there in my budget range?

I just got a armytek viking s. It seems like a nice light so far and has great throw for its size. I can still see detail out to 200 yards and a little more. Not sure if by rechargeable you mean plug the light in and charge it or run off rechargeable batteries like 18650s.

Crelant 7G9. Great throw AND usable spill for $142.

Yeah, for the $ its hard to beat the Crelant 7G9....actually, its even hard to beat the even less expensive ($87) Crelant 7G5 V2, especially when you screw on the optional Collimator Head.

The Deerelight Aspheric throws like a MoFo too and comes in under budget, but the beam itself is so concentrated that using it to SEE with is a lot like using a laser pointer to look for your lost dog, etc. Throw-wise though, its got the range certainly.

The DRY 3 XML is more of a flood light than a throw light, albeit it does throw just from shear horsepower....but for a few hundred yards. The above lights all throw further than the DRY by an enormous margin, by double or even triple its range.

:D

I just checked out the Dereelights Night Master. I can already tell hanging around this forum will become expensive.
