MR-C .VS. XR-E

Hi all,

Im 90%im gonna purchase a Quad XR-E MR11 Cutter kit but am debating wether i should purchase and build a tri MC-E setup instead
battery will be a 14.8V Lipo 4000mah

Just looking for peoples thought and opinions, for use as a dive light

What is the light for?

Do you mean MC-E?

This light is for a dive light, so will need a tight beam >10deg

XR-E:
more options for tight focusing,
way larger part of the light emitted focused by the tight optics/reflectors,
less current consumption than 4 die (with same output thanks to more of emitted light in main beam)
better thermal situation (but not critical - in water)

MC-E:
wider beam w. more light in direct spill
cheaper - just one focusing device needed,
easier to build - just one led to place and connect


I am no diver but think the wider beam w. more spill w. an MC-E will not be good
