Today's Topic: Things I've Learned Cleaning CeraKote

Normally CeraKote can be easily cleaned by wiping with rubbing alcohol and a microfiber cloth.

If that is not sufficient light scrubbing with Nyogel and a soft, used tooth brush, then finishing with an alcohol wipe will remove most ground in or transferred dirt. I recommend Nyogel because it is the one I am most familiar with and Nyogel, like most quality synthetic lubricants, has a very mild solvent to breakdown grit.

When it is really bad add Bon Ami Original Formula, (http://www.bonami.com) and ONLY Bon Ami, to the Nyogel. The original Bon Ami does not have harsh acids that could etch or marr your finish.

I was told by the cerakoter that did a light for me that brake cleaner works really well. The cheap cans from auto parts stores is what they use. Boxes of it, he said.

Brake cleaner is great at removing grease and residue before coating the lights, and while ceracoat is impervious to it, the rubber and plastic bits that are part of many lights probably won't like it.

Brake fluid will ruin most painted objects, although the CeraKote will take it, other things will get damaged.
WD40 is petroleum jelly suspended in butane, it will clean and lube safely. jsut grease after.
