remember in the movie the rock (1996) there is the elite team helicopter sneaking Sean Connery and Nicholas Cage on ... the rock. anyway, just a few second before insertion, they change the light of the helicopter to green. in the military you adjust your eye to night or green light ... 45 minutes at least to optimum eyesight
