my first blackout

Never mind the light, I have a hard time without my computer. I do have a UPS but should have a backup car battery.
My computer is my MAJOR addiction.

ah yes, the horror of being without one for more then an hour or so!
i do have my laptop (with about 3 hours worth of battery), but what is a computer without a internet connection!

How about movies? Great during a blackout.

Dial-up will work off the laptop battery, but is not the best during a power failure as it uses up "circuits" at the phone company. With a power inverter and a deep cycle battery, DSL should work well, as the Central Office has major backup capacity and it does not use "circuits" on the CO equipment as dial-up and even ISDN use. Cable is tricky though but it may work depending on the circumstances.
