Hi.
This is my first post in this forum.
After my first glare at this heavenly forum, I knew I was ...
My name is Vegar, and I'm a Flashaholic
It all started with a cheap 2xcr123 xenon police light I bought from eBay for $5, and the bulb went bye bye after the second set of batteries. sooo....the light ended up in my drawer for a year or so....
Then.....a lovely day here in Norway my eyes caught a glare of a web site full of gadgets, DX.
After surfing it for 2 sec. my attention went to the flashlight section.
There i found this cool R2 drop in.....
And as a former industrial mechanic I sow the potential in this lovely drop-in. it worked out sooo gooood......! (After some garage adjustment)
Story of the police light will be told in another post.
Here is just a tease of the beam shot:

And here is where we come to my headlight
In my drawer there was also a ordinary halogen bulb headlight.
I stumbled over a site on the DX forum that was called KD
And found a small Cree P4 drop-in (22mm) and thought that this will fit my headlight
(And I also had an old cheapoo headlight with 3 AAA and 5 led with strobe on laying around....broken....I never throw stuff away)
It is powered by a battery pack at the back of the headband, with 4x AA 1,2v rechargeable batteries.
And here is the pic's

This is the 5 led module, and you can see the two Cree P4 drop-ins on the left.
Here is the gutted host; the circuit board will be slightly modified

This is how I want it to be in the end.

Here I've soldered a switch to cycle the modes of the 5 led light (2 modes).
Constant on, or strobe.

Here is the switch mounted in the house.
Soldered the two P4 drop-in's parallel after removing the springs at + and -

Tadaaaaa…..The light is mounted and ready to make night to day.

Here you see the red mode switch on top. I'll use the original switch to switch the P4 on/off

Here is a shot of the 2xP4 lit.

And here is the 5 led constant on.
This headlight blows my mind...!
It became 3 times as powerfull than I ever could imagine
It lit up a car in about 120m with no trouble:devil:
Outdoor beam shots is to be added, just need time to rig up my Olympus E420 digital.
All these shots have been taken with my sonyericsson K810i cell phone, so sorry for the quality.
