just wanted to share my story of the day...
Just been driving home from work, shortly after 11 pm from the airport, half mile away from the airport through a forest, where they are just building for the new runway, saw a car flipped over on the roof, another car standing there with headlights + hazard light on, standing on the side, guy in front of me stops, i also stop the car and turn hazard lights on...
Getting out of the car, grab my flashlight (ultrafire c1 with cree q5, just to have a light...)...
Since the car (renault laguna from..before 2000) was flipped over in the woods, it was pretty dark around, 1 guy was already standing next to the car and looking inside the flipped car and the driver was just about to get out, so noone was injured! Car was lying around 50 ft away from the street.
But noone except me had a flashlight around and when the cops arrived, they had some lights, but these were pretty weak...compared to my old dx q5-dropin...

The Guy was pretty sure to have seen some deer before, but in the woods you should always be careful...;)

Need to put a second emergency-light in the car...never know when you need it..and my girlfriend thinks i'm crazy.. lovecpf
 
Always good to read about real world uses. Read a post a week or two ago about how a button cell light help save a guy's life after an auto accident landed him in his car in water in the dark. Everyone else thinks we are crazy until there is no light around.
 
Good stuff, people think my light addiction is silly too, but then I get asked 3 times a week..."where's your flashlight, where's your flashlight, can I see it for a second?" EDC is currently JetBeam MKII 2nd Gen.

My wife thought I was crazy until I used my ROP to scare off a bunch of teenagers that were carrying on in our street and stirring up my dogs, which in turn were keeping the baby awake.

Now she sees they have a purpose!
