Well I have had my free demonstration. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
The Chap came around my house at 11.00pm Saturday night.
I would of thought that it was alittle late but I suppose because its summer it doesn’t get dark till well gone 10.
First of all here is his website.
Ok so this Starlight.
The first thing I saw was the Aluminium case it’s housed in. It’s a case similar to a case that houses PA equipment. It’s nicely made. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
When you unlock the case you open it you see a Massive torch and some accessories.
I pulled it out of the case to hold the light and the first thing I found is it’s heavier than I thought.
It’s made from a special plastic so I am told but it seems like plastic to me. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif
Anyway I couldn’t wait to switch this thing on so I flicked the switch on.
I got a wearied sound from the torch. It goes wwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeoooooooooooooooooooooooo.
I was told not to look directly into the beam because I could damage my eyes.
I was shining it up on to my white ceiling and the light turned my room into daylight. Wearied.
He was showing me the brightness compared to another torch he had which looked very similar but was yellow. The difference between the two was easy to see.
So we took it outside into my small garden.
I switched it on again and once again weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeoooooooooooooooooooooooo the torch went.
Now I really saw the power of this torch. Its Crazy. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
I can’t really express myself on how bright it was. Not without getting chucked off this forum. I did swear a lot. Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif
The Beam went straight up to the clouds no messing and lit the clouds up. I was holding a World War 2 searchlight in my hand. I am not joking. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin07.gif
I have a field near my back garden and it was exactly like what the guy says it’s like a Helicopter Searchlight. I could see the trees and everything the other side of the field. Even tho this torch is crazy bright it doesn’t get that hot. It’s wearied it runs cold.
So anyway we went back inside and I asked it I could see how it worked.
The guy opened it up and pulled its guts out. Its powered by a 3.3 AH Sealed Lead acid battery and has a Phillips box inside. I am told this is the ballast. It has lots of wiring and a wearied shaped bulb. It’s nicely put together. Lots of screws holding it together. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
The battery lasts about 45 minutes so I was told.
The torch comes with a carry strap charger and the nice case.
Ok to sum it all up.
It’s a very nice torch. Absolutey stupid bright and well made. You defiantly get what you pay for.
Is it worth the £350 Defiantly! The chap says he has 2 in stock but normally makes them to order.
I might buy one when I get paid. It’s defiantly better than my old Panther I had. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Ps. NO I DIDN’T SLEEP WITH HIM. LOL. HES NOT BRAD PIT. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink2.gif

Did AP bring his camera? I would like to see more pics and beamshots of his light and how the insides look, it is nice he dropped the price from $900 to $600+ USD, still out of my league though.:(

Thanks for your review!
Alex

Thanks SX, I have the 3.5 MCP Thor that I modified to achieve 3600+ Lumens (close to 4k!) with an Aurora's HOLA bulb and a 7.2 AGM SLA Battery.

Think I'll stay with this configuration for a while until I get Bored, and then move to HID. Thanks for the info.

Alex

For this price it is a little bit disappointing to have 'only' a SLA battery.
It should be at least a NiMH, maybe 11 SubC cells or so. Will make it less heavy and give longer runtime.
