I Finally Got My H52Fw

Received my H52Fw in the mail today... It's basically what I expected... here are some observations:

1) It is very close in size to my H51Fw... I thought it would seem smaller

2) The button is almost identical to my SC52w, with a little more room between the switch and rubber cover

3) The tint is more toward the rosy red side versus the green of my SC52w... I think people will be very happy with the tint

4) The anodizing is darker than any of my other ZL's... I wished it matched the SC52, but whatever

5) It REALLY lights up a room!

I got mine in the mail yesterday... it is awesome, especially with a 14500... the only thing I don't like about it is it makes my SC52w look a lot worse... and I planned to use them side-by-side.

Let me know how your tints compare? My SC52w is definitely toward the green/yellow end of the spectrum and the H52Fw is more red/purple... The H52Fw tint is probably more pleasing to most of us tint snobs, but I really wish they were the same... hopefully ZL starts putting the reddish tint LED's in the SC52w.

Oh no, get ready for me to start complaining when mine arrives :D Haha just kidding, I'll try to spare everyone the drama.

I just sucked it up and got over the green tint (somewhat) on my SC52w since it's such a perfect light otherwise. But I am hoping my SC600w II and H52w have better tints.

I had an SC52w with this smoother, darker finish...LOVED IT!

I am happy that they got it "right" this time since the H52Fw will be my new EDC... but it's really annoying that it doesn't match up with my SC52w at all... if I use them together, the SC52w now looks way too green and once my eyes adjust to that, the H52Fw will probably look too red/purple.

I would almost prefer that they were both the same greenish tint... almost.

How far does it shine useably?

I assume you are asking about the H52Fw... I'm not going to attempt an answer for how far it shines "usably"... but I will tell you that the throw of the light is significantly decreased by the frosted glass. My EDC has been an H51Fw for years, so I was prepared for this... The Fw lights distribute the light much more evenly and light up your general area better... I prefer this for indoor use and up-close tasks. I bring my SC52w if I need throw, and sometimes I bring both...

If you're ever going to want to use the light at outdoor distances, you will probably want the H52w or an SC52w... you can always put some sort of diffusing material on a non-Fw light, like scotch tape, and it will be very similar to the Fw lights... and then you can remove it when you want. I thought about doing this, but then realized I would usually want the even flood with this type of light so I went with the H51Fw and now the H52Fw.

I wouldn't worry about it.
If you unscrew the tailcap a turn or so and tighten it within a few seconds it shouldn't do it again. If yours doesn't flash again when you try that, unscrew the tailcap about a turn, press the switch then tighten the tail and it should flash again.
If your light behaves like that then it is exactly like 4 of my Zebralights and would just write it off as an electronics quirk.
