It does not exist. But if I want to be a realist, there would be two of them.

1. The first one would be a 3xCR123 light with a Luxeon SE screaming like lambda's latest.
2. the second one would be a 5W Luxeon light w/ Mr Bulk's Firebreathing Dragon intensity running on something like a 2D format light.

I would want both of them to be fully regulated, reasonably waterproof, moonmode lasting many hours, full power for about 6 hours, and 2 levels of power: full power and long life (20 hours?).

I think that all the components exist today for the first one, although not together... The body would be DSpeck's, we could use a BadBoy current regulator with a high amperage set point, lambda's SE mod, and dat2zip remote mag switch modded to a real flashlight - which head tho? The second one is, I think, further away - particularly for power density and energy/light efficiency. It might take another 6-9 months for a Luxeon to be able to have the right power/consumption combo - 5W SE?

What do you think?

Unless there are some dramatic changes in battery technology; or brightness in LED Technology - its still based on the magic formula:

Run_Time X Brightness = Weight

As I posted on the other forums, I could easily make a tiny AAA flashlight with a 5w part that would last for 100s of hours running at full power; until someone notice that cable running out of the flashlight to the battery pack hidden in my coat

My ideal LED light would be made with a thin wall Titanium tube of the minimum diameter to house an Opalec module and a single 123 battery. It would have a lens and a compact rotating switch with on/off detents. It would be waterproof and have a lanyard hole. It would be fantastically light weight.

The ideal LED light would be dimmable! It would be able to switch into moon mode and back at the user's request.

My ideal light is
3 nichia LEDs
1 1w LS
1 4w florescent
uses 4 AA Ni-MH cells
can be charged from any 12v source(car, wall wart)
