Well I got my M2 yesterday from Jay at Flashlightconnection.

What a fantastic light this is!!
I didnt think I would like the hand feel, but it actually does feel good
in my hand.
The clicky switch was easy to install, there are 4 little philips screws,
so you need a tiny jewlers screwdriver.
I have not had the opertunity to check it out outdoor at night yet.

I dont like the fact that the selector ring is not notched so it would click
to the modes, it's smooth.

I noticed on mine, the clicky switch is slightly at a slant.
It works fine, it just looks a little strange.
Is this the way it was designed?

Otherwise, the unit seems to be fairly well made, but it doesnt look like
the kind of thing you would want to drop on a concrete floor.

Has anyone else noticed the slanted clicky switch?

Installed the switch on mine and it is NOT slanted. Love this light. This was my first EagleTac but it won't be my last...

Hmmm, I guess it's just me then.
Yeah, I would have to say, this in one of my favorite lights in terms
of design. I really like this UI. I wish other manufacturers would use
a selector ring for adjusting output.
I like this light enough to buy another, next time, a M2X w/ warm tint
because it really makes the greens and browns outdoors look more
natural. Doest look so hot indoor "white wall" hunting though!!

Got mine from Jay at Flashlightconnection BTW :)

Hey Mr. Bunny, how's M2XC4 comparing to DBS V3 in term of throw and spill ?

Hey Mr. Bunny, how's M2XC4 comparing to DBS V3 in term of throw and spill ?

I plan to check that out tonight!! I am very curious.
I also want to compare it to my Solarforce 950 and Jetbeam M1X.

I know it's not going to throw much past about 200 yards before the
beam disperses to flood, but I'm curious anyway.

The M1X has a deep reflector, and it's throw is very impressive indeed!

I would love to try to get some beam shot too, but it will have to wait
till next weekend.

I am very interested in all 3 comparisons

I'm not sure if i did the right thing, but since the M2 was not available in a Neutral/warm-end tint I went for a M2X-Warm. I have not been too crazy about tri-emitter setups, or 2-Cell lights any more but the M2* platform is the best I've seen for these types of lights. I'd like them to make an M2 with an MC-E/5A rather than the P7. It will be fun to test it out.

Since they probably designed the reflector specifically for a smooth beam with a P7 I don't think they'll use an MC-E.
Doesn't matter for my M2X neutral white anyway :paypal:

PB.. TAIGERSX is asking how the M2XC4 compares, but you got the straight M2. Make sure there's no confusion.

Oh thanks for pointing that out. He doesn't have the M2XC4. I think I gotta buy M2XC4 myself and test it out then.

Hi PsychoBunny,
The button switch should be pretty well centered.
The rubber boot is probably not seated correctly. If that's the case it's easy to fix.
If you look inside the tail cap assembly you'll see an aluminum retaining plate. Loosen the plate by turning counter clock wise. Remove the boot and have a look to see if it's alright. If it's alright, reinstall the boot and retaining plate.

Thanks for that, I'll check that out.
Still havent been able to play with my lights!!!!
Everybody wants me to do stuff for them!! and now that I have free
time to do what I want, it's pouring down rain!!!!!!! :ironic: :sigh:

So I've now had the chance to compare my two different Deerelights DBS V3's with the M2XC4.

First a little background description of how I use my Deerelights. For the past couple of months I've been carrying both my Deerelights while walking the dogs at night. Most of the time I have the MC-E version on since it throws far enough and has plenty of floody spill to light up my immediate area. When dogs in backyards bark at us or if I want to look at something far away I quickly use the R2 version.

Now on to the M2XC4:

First, I was surprised to discover that it has an even wider spill of flood than the MC-E Deerelight which makes it very nice for illuminating my immediate area.

Second, as I expected, the spot is wider than the R2 Deerelight and at moderate distances of 250-300 feet, the spot seems as bright as the R2 Deerelight but it illuminates a wider area. At more extreme distance of 500 feet, the R2 Deerelight is just a tad brighter, but of course the area illuminated is much smaller.

My only minor complaint is that it is too easy to accidentally turn on the strobe, especially for a lumen hog like myself. It would be nice if each brightness level clicked into place or if it required a bit more effort to switch on the strobe. However, on the bright side, the smooth action makes it very easy to change the brightness level with my thumb and forefinger. With just a little practice, this complaint becomes somewhat of a non-issue.

In conclusion, for my real-world use, I can describe the M2XC4 to be roughly equivalent to using both Deerelights at the same time as it has a very good balance between throwing a bright beam and flooding the immediate area. Because of this, it will now become the single flashlight I take when walking the dogs at night. :twothumbs

p.s. My review is not tainted by the fact that I am a very minor stockholder of CREE, but I'd much prefer that you buy three R2's from Cree than a P7 from Seoul.
