Pretty impressed with it, got it at Mills Fleet Farm in Rochester. When I was at my parents this weekend, I did a throw test.
Light_Beam.png

⓵is where I was standing (on their deck). ⓶ was approximately where I could see the beam, probably had better throw than that, but the trees limited my ability to go any further up. Plus there's houses on that side. Also note the large tree at the bottom of the picture is now gone. We cut it down sometime after this sat image was taken. Anyways the only problem I have is it's not knurled, so it can be pretty slippery if your hands are wet, or don't have a good grip on it.

What is the beam pattern like? If you take a picture of it shining on a wall, and tell us the width of the bright spot and the distance from the wall (6-8 feet) then that will tell us plenty. Thank you kindly! This looks like a decent light.

Here's a beamshot, taken about 6' from the wall

Same with exposure centered on spot:

There's a noticeable variance in the spot, not clearly seen here. Measured at 6', the hotspot was approximately 1 foot.
If you move the light closer to the surface, a "cloverleaf" pattern emerges.

BTW Sorry for the off-center shots, taken with my new iPad (iPad 3rd Generation)

Ooo, an MC-E. Haven't seen one in a while. You might get a narrower beam if you swap it out for a XM-L (assuming the dies of the MC-E are wired in parallel).

That's a useful-looking beam! To help with grip... Try that tool-dip stuff from a hardware store. Plasti-dip? Skateboard or tennis racket tape also work.
