Well being a lighter freak I figured I would check out the sarome that I have herd several people talk about.I think someone even had one type III anodized . I like the feel and heft of this lighter however I wish it had softer edges I think it will wear out my pockets.Even though I haven't smoked cigs in three years I still edc a lighter.this will replace my Ti zippo with thunderbird gas insert, that I have carried for the last 2 years. Here are some pics. I have a lot to learn about photography.

It would be cool to get this HA'd
:D

 :D

The ano is holding up great, apart from a few sharp edges where it chipped a bit. ;)

A greater concern is that the mechanism that keeps the lid closed eats away the path it slides over, making the closing not too secure. In fact, I have to be careful to fully close it as it will leak otherwise. :(

sounds kind of pointless to anodize a part thats meant to be slid over and over again during use...unless it was meant for a collectors item:duh2:

Wouldn't anodizing the lid have helped?Type III is abrasion resistant. How long have you been carrying it? How much did it cost and what did you have to do ?
TIA

It would probably have helped a bit, but eventually it will wear off as well.
I liked the look of the bare alu lid and didn't expect it to wear so fast. :(

I have been carrying it for about a year, but not exclusively. :candle:

The cost of anodizing is unknown to me... ( thanks E ;) )

If you have only been carrying that for a year that to me is a totally unacceptable wear pattern.I have lighters that are 40 years old that were daily users that are still in very good condition. I think I will have to move on over this one, unless this is not typical of this lighter.(thanks for whoever moved this to the right place:))

I think the wear is caused by a design flaw, the soft aluminum just isn't suited for the task. :(

I will probably contact Sarome about this.

Has anyone determined where to purchase these in the states? So far, it seems they don't have any direct sources. I am looking for other Sarome models and have only seen them advertised in the UK.
