Sorry about the fleabay link...but I cannot find a name for this flashlight. Rayovac doesn't have it listed on their webpage but I found it on walmarts webpage if that is allowed.

I stumbled across this flashlight from Rayovac for 6 dollars at CVS when I went in to get a couple things. It seems the perfect size and light output I WANT for the work I do. I do residential electrical work so a small compact light to back up my flood light is nice to have. When working in close parameters with things in arms reach I don't want a 100+lumen light. Everything I am trying to look at and work on is white and blinded.

But this little gem caught my eye. Using AA batteries it has a very good run time along with a perfect 19 lumen output. I can put it in my mouth and bite it for hands free working. And it is small enough I can have it on me everywhere I go. I have tested the run time and it is over the rated 3 hours. The actual run time is more like 6-8 hours.

Anyone else have this little bugger?

Actually one night I was driving to the grocery store, and at a busy intersection, I saw a light, in the street.
Thirty minutes later, when I approached the intersection, I parked my car, and picked it up.

It was a VBMET-B. It was obvious that it had been run over a number of times, all nicked up, but still running.
Later I found that I needed pliers to remove the tail cap because it has lost its round.

The GITD body ring makes a great addition to other lights. I got several in this style when they were $1/ea and parted out the body ring as a teeth-holder to a few lights.

It's a pretty good light. Really screams on 14500 or NiZns, but the heatsinking is inadequate for them. If you're interested, it's an array of 3-5 20mA-rated LEDs in a single epoxy-coated package. That's why it's fairly bright for a "5mm" LED.

Excuse my noobness as I am a noob to the flashlight addiction. But are you saying that this flashlight will work with a 14500 battery?? I wouldn't use it for extended periods of over 10 seconds,

I was a bit more cautious than a 'real' 14500. I used some solar yard light LiFePO4 14460 size cells. The lower voltage probably keeps it from self-destructing.

if it self destructs I'll buy another one...I like testing things to their limits. Hell every other weekend I blow 30 dollars of ammo out of my .45 1911A1.

That's funny, I had some time to kill and was only a few miles from Wallmart so I drover over to pick one up. It was only $3.97, but when I saw the run time of 3 hours, for only 19 lumens, I couldn't bring myself to get it. At that rate it is just too inefficient.

IIRC with a good quality light you can expect 50 lumens for 3+ hours on a single AA eneloop.
