My Streamlight ProTac 2AAA is trash?

I have a few TLR-1's that i have put the hell. I mean I even EDC'd one for 2 years. I competed in IDPA and subjected them to way too much abuse. They still work great!

the micro stream i had? not reliable. at all.
I thought it was a fluke and got a protac 2AAA. Same issue. I turn it on and the light starts to flicker. Or I click it on and nothing happens until i beat it against something. Not to mention the finish all wore off.
Is there a common problem that can be addressed with these?

I would be good if you changed the title of this thread, as it may become counter productive to your intention, which is wanting a recommendation. Moving this to Recommend me a light for...forum.

after searching around i read that many flashlights get corrosion on the contacts. I took this one apart, and hit the contacts with a delicate abrasive. It works again! but the finish is still worn off. oh well.
