still working on the mount. The case was machined by a very nice co-worker and i designed it in google sketchup. Its a hipflex driver with 3 K bin MC-Es. Ledil boom spot optics. Polycarbonate lens. Threaded plastic caps front and rear. I am using a 14.8V Li ion battery.

wow! it looks very nice!
The third picture made me think you were doing a moisture entry test at first, but then I realized that it was being anodized.

How is the light working out? Is the cooling adequate? In the finished photo, it doesn't appear that there is much aluminum exposed to the surrounding air.

Have fun with the light. It's always fun to see a project get designed, fabricated, and assembled!

Steve K.

That should come in handy in case the Sun ever burns out. :poke:

:D

How much does Google SketchUp cost these days? I seem to recall it was pretty expensive a couple of years ago.

Very Nice! I pity the poor guy coming the other way on whatever trail you are riding on.

How is this mounted to the bike?
"still working on the mount" (got it)

answers:

at 2 amps, I get a little heating but not too much. I haven't really played with anything more than that yet, but I imagine it will require some more heat sinking.

switch in the front was a compromise: I originally wanted it on the side, but as the machinist was doing this as a favor, I didn't want to ask him to make yet another cut (a flat section for the switch to mounted on). I kind of like the way it looks now though. As far as 25% smaller, a 25% reduction in surface area on the front face doesn't end up making much difference to the overall dimensions.

I turn the light down or put my hand in front of it for oncoming bikers :)

google sketchup is free, but the pro version is $$$$
