For those who are still having problems navigating the forum please give me some info.

What platform are you using? Mac, PC or other.

What operating system and version are you using?

What browser and version are you using?

How are you connecting to the internet?

Is the website slow or doesn't load at all?

If you can remember please give the approximate date and time of the problems.

Have you been to the other part of the website and experienced the same problems? Like the front page or links section.

Feel free to add additional related comments. Keep in mind I'll be passing this on to the webhost.

Window ME, 95, 98 and NT.
56K modem, T1 and T3.
I connect between 0730PST - 0000PST
For connection problems: 75% of the time it will not connect and 25% of the time it is slow loading.
Internet Explorer 5.0 and 5.5.

I don't think anyone here has NOT had a problem.

Mac Powerbook G3
MacOS 8.6
IE 5.5 and Netscape 6.01

Cannot connect at all in a few hours ago but I didn't log the exact time.

For the past weeks, 75% cannot connect and 25% is very slow. When this site couldn't be accessed, no problem for accessing other sites such as Sure Fire.

Connection problem happened both on 256K leased line and 1.5M DSL.

Trace and ping to the site is OK but no response from the site. If I connect directly to its IP address, it goes to your ISP's parking service web page.

I hope this help.

AMD-366 laptop 64 ram 4.3 hard drive 56k modom. With America Online I get "server not responding" with Explorer 5.5 I get "page cannot be displayed". Slow at all times. Is it possible the old server address is sometimes valid still? The reason I think this is I will sometimes get to the opening page but cannot go anywhere, almost like the links go nowhere. Can`t Infopop figure it out? Maybe we should shut the whole thing down and start anew? Even if everything is lost...if it proves to difficult to repair.

You guys with your proper fancy computers!
Here- Internet Explorer 5.5, windows 98, slightly screwy 28.8 modem and a pentium 100 overclocked at 133 with a worn out heatsink fan and the case held together with duck tape! Doesn`t sound promising to start with does it?

. Did I say it was full of dust too?

But it does work (still) and when the site goes down, or went down cos it seems OK today if slow, it just sort of sat there and eventually timed out, not replying. This first began on thursday evening, I guess lunch time over there but it may have been all day- I only came online in the evening then.
Last night I deleted the board`s cookie after seeing it suggested and it seemed to work again, but maybe that was when you installed the upgrade out of beta? The alpha version seems to work better, at least I can now get in all the time though as I said it is slow. A friend of mine here in South Wales couldn`t get to the site at all for about a week, but can today, no mention of if it`s slow or not there.

I've found that 2 IP addresses returned for www.candlepowerforums.com, 38.136.67.2 and 63.89.113.75 depending on the DNS.

I tried to connect directly to 63.89.113.75, it goes to your ISP's parking site. If I tried to connect the other one (38.136.67.2), it failed.

The following traceroute might be helpful for your ISP's troubleshooting.

There is no IP number that will access the website. That is intentional by my webhost.

I noticed the most common browser in the earlier complaints was IE5.5. And it seems to continue in this thread. That's what I'm using. And it does get so slow for me that it times out before anything loads. But if I close all of my browsers except the one CandlePowerForums is on, that helps. And clearing my Temporary Internet files and History helped too.

I'll make one more effort to resolve this with my webhost. Some of the slow part can't be helped. It's the UBB6 that makes everything so slow when you can finally get on the website.

I'm not sure the problem is with users' browser. As you could see the traceroute result, the problem occurred way before users reach the server.

What did your ISP say about the traceroute result?

Alan

I spoke too soon. Again. It broke again for a few hours. One thing I do find sometimes makes it work again is turning the PC off for half an hour or so, sometimers it works with just closing all internet programs and turning the modem off. When I come back its normally OK again.

I`ll be glad when it`s fixed.

OK I`ll stop moaning now. No more. Unless I get really pissed about it again.

Using MSIE V5.5 on a T1 line at work. Real slow. Also, when I logged in, it said "hello Earl" and on the next line had a notice that that login name is not known. Lots of fun though.
