I lost my "go to" light last week. It was a streamlight Led rechargeable light. It was nice but it's gone now so I need a replacement.

Here's what I'm looking for...
mc-e, p7, or sst50
warmer tint preferable
flood or spot doesn't matter
must not be direct drive
2x 18650
2-5 modes
it would be nice to have the ability to use a red filter on it
under $100

I'd like to pick something up from DX, I don't mind replacing a cheap clicky or something small like that as long as I end up with a decent light.

any suggestions?
 
why not get another streamlight like you are accustomed to?

otherwise, please narrow your parameters a bit - like preferred method of carry, number of levels you need and how low a low, etc.

when you say "work" light, please elaborate on what kind of work - harsh conditions? damp/wet?

with what you've told us, there are too many possibilities.

Sorry, The stream light was ok, but not great. It did not use li-ion batteries, and I just wasn't that impressed with it. I'm a mechanic, the light won't be carried. I might keep it in the car for camping on weekends. 2-5 light levels would be fine.
 
I'd be careful buying a random no-name/clone light. DX offers some decent products, and some garbage too - but you won't know till you get it and use it. If I were you, I'd spend just a little more $$$ and buy a Jetbeam M1X or a Olight M30 Triton.

I'm not sure if the M1X has any filters, but I know that the olight comes with a diffuser. I'm not sure if there are any after market diffusers out there in red, but imho the red diffuser is kind of a gimmic. It is very useful in the military and possibly has some uses civilian applications that a handful of people or industries find useful, but the vast majority of people I know with filters use them as kind of a "look at this, pretty cool, huh?" and then take it off their light and rarely use it.

I don't think either light has a warm tint.

neither are direct drive.

Both have at least 2-5 modes.

And both are QUALITY lights, you don't want your new $40 cheapie going out on you. Both these lights can stand up to some punishment.

it doesn't have to come with any filters (color). It would just be nice to be able to get one at some point. I don't want a $40 light. But I really would like to keep it around $100. The eagletac looks nice but a little over budget, same goes for the O-light (which I would need an extension tube for). Plus I still need a charger and batteries.

The Olight M30 meets every one of your requirements except it is a bit over $100. It is tough and very awesome. It also has an optional red filter available.
 
I'm leaning towards the O-light or the eagletac (I like the parallel battery placement). I'm gonna have to get clearance from the wife if I spend over $100 though:sigh:
 
Rollertoaster, If the Olight M30 is too far of a stretch for you, the M21 is right up your alley. Great little light with plenty of oomph.

Carrot, you are loving that M30 lol. I concur though, it is an awesome light.

Damn right, I just got it two weeks ago and can't stop playing with the stupid thing. Once 4sevens has a li-ion charger back in stock I'm picking up some li-ions so I don't go broke powering this light. It might be overkill, but I can honestly say using so many lumens to walk around at night is extremely gratifying. To be fair, my Surefire M3T was far more expensive to feed...

haha, 1 mc-e is not too much. I have a 3x mc-e bike light and I'm in the process of milling a 4x mc-e right now.
