Need an Outboard Motor Question answered...

My Dad has an Evinrude twin. The lower spark plug has spark jumping along the body of the plug from the boot.

Is the plug or the wire/coil the problem?

Sounds like the insulated glass part of the plug from the tip to the shell casing is conducting power and needs to be cleaned or what ever conductive substance that is on it. Id rather you replace the plug and find a boot to put over it.

He got new plugs and some special grease for inside the boot.

He used a bit of starting fluid and vroom! It turns out the gas tank is empty enough that the fuel pump couldn't pull reliably.... DOH!
