OK.... I have a 18' Box Truck (Ford E450} Under the main Box I have installed what we call "Jockey Boxes" They are 8' long with fold down doors to store assorted gear.
I want to install convenience lights inside the Jockey Boxes. The normal way would be to wire 12volts to the boxes and run 12v incan light bulbs.
I would rather have the boxes run on there own power. This is what I'm thinking and where I need your help. I do have a basic understanding of electricity, but some of the verbage I here on modding does get confusing.
I have a bunch of Keychain fauxtons and I was testing them inside the Jockey Boxes. I think 3 of them spread over 8' looks like it will do just fine.
Here is what I'm thinking. Fauxtons run on 2- 2016 three volt batteries. Where I come from that equals 6 volts. 2- 2016's is supposed to run the LED for 4-5 hours. So here are my choices..... Please tell me which one sounds best to you.
All 3 LED set-ups.
1) 2 CR123's
2) 4 AA Lithium's
Plan B:
B) Run 12volts from truck to 3 LEDS wired in series.
Am I missing something.... All these scenarios would work? The only thing I worry about is the increase in current/amprege. Will all that juice kill that little LED?
My goal with any of the set-ups is to have 50-100 hours of run time. Like change the batteries once a year.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks, frisco
