I'd love to know more about your project. I'll need the following information to answer.
What is the light you want modified? How large is it, and what type of switch? Will I need to replace it?
How will you use the light? Up close, far away, or for area floodlighting?
How bright do you need it? A 100 watt light can be anywhere from 500 to 5000 lumen, depending on the light system and beam pattern used.
Do you want dimmer levels? Most lighting applications need only a few hundred lumens.
How long must it run at full power? And in lower modes?
