I'm looking for a corded tight beam spotlight that I can use for a marine application. Cigarette lighter plug is perfect.

I will be leaving this for extended periods in a weatherproof (but not always dry) storage on a small boat.

I need this to pick out navigation marks at night and for looking for obstacles in the water.

Suggestions?

Thx
J

Hi JohnJ80,

I have been giving others a chance to respond before I got my soap box back out but they must be away on vacation or something so here I go /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The LightForce Marine Lights are right up your alley as they are water resistant, tight focusable beam and corded with a 12V lighter plug.

They come in 3 reflector sizes 140mm, 170mm and 240MM, the ML240 will give you the longest throw of them all my land version called the SL240 Blitz will throw a tight spot several hundred yards and illuminate objects at 1/2 mile. They are very light weight, rugged and a little pricey but I can't think of any thing else that will fit your needs like they will.

Soap Box put away now till the next time /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink2.gif

Yea try Rory at this link I don't think he has the marine series but he should be able to get you one and he has the best prices I have been able to find.

Brace your self and reach deep they are expensive for a halogen spot light but they are the longest throwing off the shelf light I have been able to find /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif guess thats what you are paying for.

Unless you plan on dunking the light in water you may be able to get by with the land version SL240 if there is a big price diff and use a little silicone RTV to seal up the bottom of the handle where the cord comes in.
