I'm looking for a light setup that will mount or clip onto a Donegan Optivisor. I have their old - as in PRE-LED - lighting system and it's pathetic. From the reviews I can find, (and there isn't much in this forum's archives either) their current LED system is pretty poor as well. You can't wear a dedicated headlamp simultaneously either as the optivisor encircles your head in the exact same location.
I wear the visor when working on or inspecting critically small assemblies, when tying trout flies, working on bamboo fly rods, etc. Working distance is typically within a few feet at most and usually within a foot. A high CRI would be nice, and the less it weighs the better as this affair does sit on one's head. Angle adjustability is pretty much required. Variable intensity would also be nice. Beam adjustability would be icing on the cake. Something like Eneloop AAA or AA fueled preferred so run time is not a huge concern.
For those unfamiliar with an Optivisor's mounting requirements, picture needing a clip-on light that might attach to a baseball style cap's visor BUT IT WOULD HAVE TO POSITION THE LIGHT SUCH THAT IT WOULD BE POINTING BACK TOWARDS YOU. The optivisor's frame is open at the rear of the cage that sits in front of your forehead and houses the optical plate, so one would need to either reverse a conventional visor style clip-on mount or maybe make it so it could swivel?
Now I'm not above drilling/gluing/riveting some type of mounting system on the top or sides of the visor if need be.
Don't want to get into machining/modding if there's a ready-made system already out there that I just haven't heard of.
