Hi, I need to find a spring with an inner diameter greater than 1/2" and an outer diameter less than 1.25", with a fully compacted length less than 1/8" and a full extended length of around 3/8".

It's going on a tailcap so it would be nice if its spring rate is about the same as the E2e tailcap spring.

Can anybody help me out? I looked at some RC springs on ebay but:

1. I'd need to cut them in half
2. They are expensive and I don't need that good of quality.
3. The only big amounts I can find are tuning packs with springs of various spring rates.

FNinjaP90,

How important is the 1/2" minimum ID? I have some conicals you might be able to make work. They're .60" OD at the large end.

What's the ID at the small end? And how many do you have? If they work, I'll probably end up needing maybe 40? Would you be able to do that?

FNinjaP90,

I have a "spring collection"- never throw a spring away! 40?- not a prayer. Sorry! You might check the spring section in McMaster-Carr. Springs in small quantities are pricey, and I don't know a way around that. Your 1/8" or less solid height will limit the wire diameter/number of coils for the rate you want/need. Conical springs can be wound so the coils "nest" when compressed. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rant.gif Springs have tortured me for my entire professional career! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks guys! I think I'll get a conical spring.

BTW, what do you think the spring rate is on an E2e tailcap spring? Does 2 or 3lbs/in sound about right?

Anybody tried exchanging the springs in a kroll, or identified the sources of all the resistance? My kroll is about an ohm[edit: it seems to vary a lot, 0.5ohm being the best for the kroll alone, 1.0 the best with arc tailpack], with nygel. I like the feel of it, hope there is a fix. Maybe a heavier battery tube contact spring will help?

There is a special, wavy, coiled spring made from flat material in the z57 - anyone know where to get such?
