I have been carrying a Streamlight Stinger DS LED HP for a little while now. I am needing a replacement, and am pretty open to suggestion. Obviously this is a relatively important tool for me, so I'm not going to start with limiting my budget.

I'm looking for:
-1 to 1.25 inch barrel diameter
-Relatively balanced flood vs. throw (I need to hit some pretty long distances as I spend a fair amount of time in a rural setting, but also need it to work for room/building searches and traffic stops)
-I like the 7-10 inch length range as it makes for the best "armpit tuck"
-I'm not concerned with the method of purchase or manufacturer
-I would like it to use 18650's, due to my current supply of them but will buy other if needed
-I work 12 hour shifts, so the high mode run time needs to be useful for that length of shift
-I would like a ready to go light as opposed to creating one from various drop-ins and parts
-The brighter the better as far as I'm concerned
-Would like brightness modes, but other modes like the strobe, SOS, etc. I don't need.

I've been looking at the Jetbeam M2S and the Olight M3X Triton for examples. You may tell me they don't fit my bill. All suggestions welcome. Thanks for the comments!

A lot of LEO's here in this forum favor the Klarus XT10, and then now the XT11 due to its tactical, no-nonsense UI. Small enough to be used with firearms at night, double springs on the XT11 for shock proofness (in case of mounting it on a gun) it has a remote activation tailcap available should you wish to mount it on an automatic rifle. Has a strike bezel so can be used in self-defense scenarios. Has good balance between flood and throw. Uses 18650's and pretty decent runtimes. reflector is orange peel (so the hotspot blends gently with the spill. price is not that expensive.

as for the Jetbeam M2S you mentioned, it's similar to the XT11 in size, but you may want to consider the XT11 more. The Olight M3X is a great thrower light, you might find it a bit long though, unless throw is really your thing.

I think the Olight M3X is a good choice for you. It is very bright and is a good thrower. It falls within your requirement. Another good choice is the Sunwayman T40CS U2. The build quality is a little better and the shallow reflector generates a good amount of side spill while retaining excellent throw. It is also a little shorter and has a much better finish.

The xt11 and xt10 are a little short. I have a Maelstrom G5 that I now use as a weapon light, but tried it to fit as a patrol light. It wasn't long enough for me and wasn't bright enough.

The XT 30 is more like the size range I like to carry. I know a lot of LEO's like the smaller lights, but I just prefer something a little bigger.

I'm not familiar with the Sunwayman. I'll look into that. I've also been looking into the Malkoff Wildcat, but I have a hard time finding information on the newer version.

I carry the XT-11 on the duty belt. I love the thing. I work in a more urban environment and it provides everything I need.
I do carry other lights for distance use but since I don't work in rural areas I hardly ever need long throw on duty.

I suggest looking into the Fenix TK15. Mine tucks nicely under my arm, has a straightforward mode changer button and four mode settings from 9 lumens to 350 lumens. I've found the effective distance with this light is 75 yards. It uses both rechargeables and cr123a's and you can purchase one with a leather holster at fenixtactical for a good combination price. (I only mention this seller because I couldn't find the leather holster for this light anywhere else.)

Another suggestion would be the fenix pd32. Has the same mode functions, lumen outputs, and battery needs as the TK15 but it is 1 inch shorter and slightly thinner. The PD32 gives a little more flood than throw compared to the TK15. The PD32 can also be found at fenixtactical with a good price combination on the leather holster and light.

I have both lights. I would opt for the TK15 if you can handle the 6" length as a carry light.

Although the lights u mentioned have a bezel way bigger than 1.25" they were what I was thinking. Get the M3X over the M2S, but the problem I see with them is that they only have 2 modes. I would suggest the Klarus XT30

The middle portion tube of the Crelant V9 would be about an inch or inch and a half.

I second the xt11. It really is a great light. Tough as nails and can reach 800lm when used with cr123s :). Great ui too!

I know what you mean about the Maelstron G5, I have the S2 version with smooth reflector and I find that it is not broight enough in terms of both Lumens and Lux. This is why I think the Sunwayman T40CS would be a good choice for you, as it the punch in terms of lux and lumens. It really packs a punch and seems to light up everything. There is a good review here.
