NeoGlo LED Pen

Saw this LED pen for only $4.99 at Sports Authority (display at register). Very cool for five bucks! Couldn't resist it as a gift for my daughter who loves to write in her journal at night.

This one has an orange led. When used in flashlight mode, the beam is square with a hole in the center. Also came in red, yellow and green. Runs off of 3 LR44 batts. Check their web page for other LED products.

Another neat thing was discovering the company is in the next town over from me.

I had gotten one of these on clearance from Target, and I swapped the led for a (not great) white LED from radio shack. It was easy once you take out the plastic 'plug' that holds the LED from the metal ring that screws in to hold the batteries. My kids like playing with it in flashlight mode.

A fan of my website mailed me one of these with a more greenish than usual blue-green LED.

The barrel of the pen has a sports equipment motif, and the LED appears to be a Cree model (probably cheaper than a genuine Nichia).

It's in the queue for review on my site, but I haven't had a chance to "get to it" quite yet.
