Re: Nerd(\')s(\') Day

Dr J,
Some of the more messed up members of my radio club back in New York used to celibrate William Kimler Day.

August 6th 1890

That was back when New York was a technology leader, and Tesla and Edison were fighiting for market share.

Or say it another way "A good convict conducts the maximum penalty in ampers".

Re: Nerd(\')s(\') Day

Sounds like nerds are grossly under-represented. How about the anniversary of the day the flashlight was invented?

Re: Nerd(\')s(\') Day

How about either the birthdays of -

Lee DeForest (Vacuum tube, I think)
Thomas Edison (electric lights) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Philo Farnsworth (TV)

Since geeks have areputation for not getting out enough,
the date chosen should be during the warmer months!

Another good reason for January 1st, along the same lines...
that's the day when geekdom had it's moment in the sun, when
we got the whole corporate world through Y2K safely. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
