Some of the more messed up members of my radio club back in New York used to celibrate William Kimler Day.

August 6th 1890

That was back when New York was a technology leader, and Tesla and Edison were fighiting for market share.

September 8 seems to be a good date.
September 8, 1966. That was when Star Trek first came on TV, broadcast by NBC.
