New 1120 lumen @1A OSTAR

The information is a little unclear.

If it does 1120lm @ 14.56W then this is ~77lm/W which is on par with the SSC P7. But it also says 610 lumens minimum which suggests that they are selling completely random bins.

OK I get it now.

I = 700mA typ
Vf = 20.8V typ

20.8 x 0.7 = 14.56W

So it is ~77lm/W :)

Still a big variation with 610lm min.

According to the OSRAM website and datasheet. Nothing has changed since they introduced the LE UW E3B from the previous LEW E3B. The max luminious flux if you get the very cream of the crop from the QZ bin outputs 1120 lumens at 700mA. At 1A it would be even more powerful.

Given that this site doesn't tell you what current they are using to get 1120 lumens typical. I can only assume they are is some misinterpretation of the datasheet, or possibly an attempt at clever wording.

According to OSRAM, the will not sell individual bin groups separately, for example, just the QZ bin, this is to "ensure availability" So it's a little like playing the lottery, since there is a big difference between the PZ and QZ bins.

I have purchased a couple of these through Digi-key. If you live in the states, this is the way to go. RS Components sells them internationally.

There were no markings on mine to indicate what bin group they were. Digikey lists the typical flux at 865lumens which, if true, puts them in the QY bin.

Regardless, these things are awesomely bright. I paired mine with a narrow beam Fraen FRC reflector, and you have an mr-11 sized light source that outputs 1000lumens for about 20W of electrical power. This is comparable to a 50W halogen bulb, or two 12W HID bulb(550lumens/bulb)

There are some drawbacks trying to focus these into a super tight beam because of the 6-die setup. So they aren't for every application, however it won't be long before you can get this kind of power from a single die!

I also think that the LED sold at LED-TECH.de are the same like everywhere. The Artikel clearly says brightness binning ist PZ-QZ which means everything between 610-1120 Lumen is possible. But writing max. 1120 lumen is TYPICAL is extremly problematic in my eyes.
