New Gall\'s "Shooter Light"

I just received a new catalog from Gall's. In the flashlight/spotlight section, they list a "New Shooter Light". It looks to be nothing more than a "H.A.L.O." light with a "syringe style grip". It lists for $59.99. They also have red and blue beamfilters for $16.99 each.

I read elsewhere in this forum that the original H.A.L.O. light was not as good as it could have been. This will probably rate the same.

I figured some on this forum might want to take a look at it.

I believe I recall our esteemed kogatana checking one out and finding it...er, lacking.

Hopefully he can pop in and give us the skinny.

FWIW, you can see this light here .

On a related note, there is a kinda funny costumer review of the Galls HALO light on the Galls website. Let me quote it:

Extremely bright but needs some improvments. I have had to replace this light twice because it overheats. I have had internal parts melt and have had the lens melt. I've even been burned by it.

Either this guy is doing something wrong or the light is just crap.

BUT...the the Vidgam Products SL-7A Sure Light is $60 and there is a special edition SF 6P (the real thing) available for $50!

So why bother ? ? ?

Richard,

You are absolutely right about the Galls. Why bother, indeed. Regardless of what other lights are available there is no rational reason to purchase this light.

The Vidgam Surelight was a disappointment also, though it is a better product than the Galls. The website photo, whether intentionally or not, falsely represents the light's appearance. In fact I suspect that the photo is of a "classic" 6P.

Though well made and solid, the light is no competition for the 6P. The beam pattern from its smooth (non-faceted) reflector is only fair, and its brightness is less than that of all 2x123 Surefires plus the ASP Triad and TACMIII. It does not have a LOTC, though if you unscrew the tailcap almost to the point of detachment it will not light but it will also negate any built in water resistance.

The special Edition 6P is a great buy for those want a 65 lumen American flag!

"High-Action-Lighting-Output"???

It really cracks me up how these companies try so hard to use really cool sounding "tactical" names.. To me H.A.L.O. always was a military special forces paratrooper term that meant "High Altitude Low Opening".

With an extra-cool name like HALO, I guess they can price it even higher than an ordinary "tactical" light.
