I don't think this is a "UFO". Looks to me like another company is taking a shot at lumileds. Any thoughts?

If you look closely at the LED, I believe you will see 4 bond wires, I think its actually 4 Dies in a single package

Most people don't understand, the 5mm package - simple was never designed to allow for any heat disapation; only one lead connects to the "cup" holding the LED die; and you simply can't expect that tiny little lead to transfer heat out of the package

Some companies enclose the LED in a large heatsink; well - plastic doesn't conduct heat very well at all

Truth is that we pay ( or willing to pay ) for lumen per watt.

I bet Luxeon is the best not only for lumen per mA but also lumen per watt.

I second that comment about 8 lumens being laughable.

You could produce 8 lumens with 6-8 decent 5mm LEDs for less than that unit is selling for.
