recently got a few BB400s, BB650, MMlite luxIII/T and MMlite 1W HD for myself and my colleagues.

- best impressed by the BB400 for the brightest output among all.
- BB650 gets hot REALLY fast and has a slight bluish tint.
- MMlite 1W looks good and bright when "alone", but looks pale and bluish when compared to the MMlite luxIII/T /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

hmmm... just wondering /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif, any idea when's the new batch of sammies coming out? apparantly, my other friends were all amazed by the light output /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif that they all wanted to get one too, but the shoppe is running low on BB400s... or is wayne coming out with sammies better than the BB400s? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

hmmm... no one? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

kobane,

More sammies will be built. They will be scheduled and made shortly.

The MM+ IC has a 24 week lead time which puts the IC delivery in the December time frame. Don't expect any MM+ converter boards or sandwiches of this flavor for while.

another question:

i always had the impression that a madmax will drain more juice out of the same cells as compared to a badboy. ie a MM will keep on draining the cells till they are really dry, while the BB simply drops out of regulation once the current cant supply enough power, but if i transfer the cells over from that badbay to a madmax, it can still give the MM a faint/dim light.

so recently, out of curiousity, i took my friend's BB650, took out the completed depleted cells, and popped them into my MM 1W. it cant even power up /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

correct me if i'm wrong /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

The badboy drop out is 1.6V which is 0.8V/Cell. On a heavy demand as is the case when the battery voltage drops the badboy will suck more current it will tend to deplete the battery to near zero. While there is some residual ooomph in the battery, it will also depend on how it was used in the final stages. Depending on whether it was continuous or intermittent can determine more or less battery energy below 1.6V. I guess what I'm saying is if the battery gets hot during contimuous usage, the battery will pop back and have some residual energy. This is especially true for Alkaline batteries. On the other hand, used 5 minutes once a day will tend to completely deplete the battery and when it poops out it will be pooped out.

I believe 1V/Cell is the accepted value for a dead battery. I am pretty certain for Alkaline this is true. NiMH maybe a bit lower or higher.
