I stumbled across a new series of LED bulbs tonight. I purchased an A-style bulb rated at 450 lumens at 3000k for $19.00.
Got it home and shined my blu-ray pointer into it to see the LED pattern. Through the heavily diffused envelope I can see a series of LEDs arranged around the perimeter of the bulb. There was too much diffusion to see if there are more LEDs near the center although I suspect there are based on the evenly lit dome when turned on.
It seems subjectively a little brighter than the Philips remote phosphor A style bulb that I compared it to, but not quite as bright as the Philips 3-lensed remote phosphor "alien head" bulb.
Bottom line - I like the color temperature and brightness of this lamp, although I suspect the phosphor won't last as long as the Philips RP lamps due to phosphor heating.
They had a few larger PAR-style LED lamps from Utilitech also.
