Hi,
so I'm new on here and I joined to learn more about knives so if anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated, thanks:grin2:

Welcome to CPF. I've learned a lot here about flashlights and a little bit about knives. Bladeforums.com is a good place to go to learn more about knives.

It's possible he's never been to BF.

Should point out that while BF is full of knowledgeable folks, the forum itself is far from the Family Friendly place that CPF is known for.

I don't know if I'd go quite so far as to say "far from Family Friendly", but certainly not as polite in some respects (more family friendly than several of the other knife forums, though). I must admit that I've learned a lot from both forums, though. Flashlights at CPF and knives at BF.

I guess it's a matter of perspective. I used to be a regular on BF, but soon got tired of the egos & attitudes. On CPF, if I disagree with someone, it's likely to start off an interesting discussion. On BF, it's likely to be used as a lame excuse to start a flame war.

I don't disagree with you in that regard about the two forums. Both have something valuable to offer, you just have to do a little more filtering on BF to get past the egos and attitudes.

If you are looking for folding knives here is what little I know.

Benchmade, Spyderco, and Kershaw seem to be the most popular single blade folding knives. Many people like Swiss Army knives and Case for multi-blade folders. Buck Knives also has some nice folders.

The websites for each of these companies has plenty of information about their knives, the types of steel used, the locking mechanisms, etc.

Another place to learn about knives is A.G. Russell's website:
