I am new to flashlights but not new to tinkering to stuff. I just finished my first build of a 2D cell maglite. I used a xml-t6 emitter with a 3a 3 mode driver, custom heat sink, replacement lens, and 2 x 32650 cells. This setup is rated for right around 1000 lumen on the high setting.

Now on to the next one...

I am looking for more info on the sst-90 emitter like which one I should get for the best light output. I saw a thread for those nice heat sinks for them that fit in a dcell maglite. I also need a suggestion for a driver that will push around 9a so I can get over 2k lumen. Also a good recommendation for cells if the 32650's will not work for this build.

Ok, I had sen that driver before. I think I will pick that up. What about the emitter... I need a solid suggestion as far as a part number and the bin code. I was told I want something in the 6500k range...

Rule to live by, never let other people tell you what you want. You can reference my color charts in this thread to help you with your tint preferences. And manufacturers almost always have Binning & Labeling Datasheets to reference part/kit numbers with flux and color bins. Generally speaking, cooler colors are available in higher lumen values, but that does not make them "better". I personally have become a neutral to warm (mainly neutral) tint fan and will sacrifice overall output for something I find more visually appealing. But that's me...
