Hi bulbman and welcome to CPF! :thumbsup:
The best NiCds I've dealt with are Sanyo's Cadnica cells. NiCds are getting harder and harder to find nowadays. There may very well be others out there. Most of the Chinese ones that I've come across though, lack any power at all but very low current drain rates and have an overrated capacity as well.
